The VMCF volunteers are not only an important resource for the chapel; they are in fact the heartbeat. They work together for the betterment of our chapel community and come from all walks of life … teenagers, retirees, executives. The comment we hear most often from our volunteers is “what a meaningful experience” it is to be part of our chapel outreach. Here are ways our volunteers interact on a daily basis:
- Take residents to and from chapel services and programs
- Visit and pray with residents
- Eucharistic ministers who assist with mass and/or take the Eucharist to those who cannot attend services
- Lead the Rosary
- Read for mass or participate in protestant services
- Provide musical assistance: pianists, singers or instrumentalists
- Facilitate spiritual growth through interaction in our Bible study programs
- Assist with preparing the chapel throughout the liturgical year
- Take photos or videotape special programs in the chapel
- Help residents access the spiritual resource library in the chapel
- Read scriptures or other spiritual books to residents
- Assist with intergenerational programs
- Provide assistance with receptions following memorial services, funerals or special occasions
The opportunities are endless and the impact each volunteer has is immeasurable. Please contact Sr. Dorothy Ann Lesher, Outreach Representative at 520-323-9351 ext.144 today. We look forward to welcoming you to our volunteer community.
